Mile Jovanov was born in 1980 in Kavadarci, where he completed primary and secondary education as the best student of his generation. He graduated at the Institute of Informatics in 2002 as the best student at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM), where he also received his master's degree in 2009. He received his Ph.D. at the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering (FCSE) at Ss’. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, Macedonia, in 2013. After graduation, he was appointed a demonstrator at the Institute. Since 2005, he has been employed as a research/teaching assistant at FSM, and transferred to FCSE when it was established, where he was elected to the title of assistant professor in 2014, associate professor in 2018 and professor in 2023. He was the Head of the Institute of Intelligent Systems at FCSE. He taught more than twenty subjects at the undergraduate, master's and doctoral studies. He is the mentor of two doctoral students and more graduate theses, and he is the author of around fifteen books/tutorials.

He was the organizer and/or chairman of twenty international conferences, seminars and workshops, and he is the author of more than 70 scientific publications in the field of computer science education, competitive programming, semantic web and intelligent systems, published in international journals/conference proceedings. He is the editor of an international journal and a member of the program board in several international conferences. He participated/co-managed several international projects.

Since 2003 he has been in the commissions for competitions in informatics, since 2008 he has been the lead organizer of competitions, and since 2009 he has been the President of the Association of Informatics of Macedonia. He led Macedonian student teams in more than 30 editions of the top international competitions in informatics (International Olympiad (IOI), Balkan Olympiad (BOI), European and Junior Balkan Olympiad) with more than 80 medals won. Since 2014, he has been the President of BOI, and since 2015 he has been an elected member of the international committee of IOI. He chaired/organized a dozen editions of the Balkan Olympiads. He participated in the creation of a dozen curricula for IT subjects in primary and secondary state education, and in several government commissions for strategies and innovations in education.
