Lasko Basnarkov was born in Kavadarci in 1977. He completed his undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Skopje in 2000. He received his master’s degree in 2005 and his PhD in theoretical physics in 2009 from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Skopje.
He began his academic career in 2002 as a teaching assistant in physics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. In September 2011, he joined the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering as an assistant professor of physics and has held the position of professor since 2020.
His research interests lie at the intersection of nonlinear dynamics, statistical physics, mathematical modelling, and computer simulations. His previous research includes synchronization phenomena, the analysis of simple climate models, and the identification of patterns in financial time series. His current research focuses on applications of statistical physics and stochastic processes to mathematical epidemiology and stochastic transport phenomena.
