Aleksandra Popovska-Mitrovikj was born in 1979 in Skopje. She received bachelor and master degrees in Informatics in 2003 and 2009 at the Institute of Informatics, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Skopje. In 2014, she defended her PhD thesis in the field of coding theory and cryptography at the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering. In 2004 she received an award from the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje for graduation with the highest average grade at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in the academic year 2002/03.
She started working at the Institute of Informatics, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in 2002, as a demonstrator, and in 2006 as a junior assistant. In 2011, she continued working as an assistant at the Faculty of Computer Sciences and Engineering. In the period of 2015 – 2019 she has been working as an assistant professor, 2019 – 2024 as an associate professor, and since May 2024, as a professor at Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering, "Ss.Cyril and Methodius" University in Skopje.
She was a participant/coordinator in several international and national scientific projects. She is an author of many scientific papers published in journals and proceedings of international conferences. Her research interest are in the field of coding theory, cryptography, information theory, blockchain technology.
